Article Abstract
The minimal effective dose of topiramate in this study population was approximately 200 mg/day. Mild or moderate CNS symptoms were the primary treatment-emergent adverse events, but treatment-limiting adverse events occurred in only 9% of pa tients given topiramate compared with 7% given placebo. Results of this initial well-controlled study in patients indicate that topiramate is a very promising new AED.
